Marketing 2010 and Beyond

Today's marketing climate is one where old schoool meets new school. Search engine marketing companies, that did not even exist 10 years ago, are now one of the fastest growing segments of the advertising and marketing world. Niche marketing has become all of the rage as off line businesses realize that there are tons of online customers looking for local services to buy from. This is a huge paradigm shift from the big brand marketing world that we all grew up in and one that is likely to evolve in the years ahead. One of the biggest growth segments is small business marketing online. In the past, small business marketing consistet of spending a small fortune on Yellow Pages ads or direct mail coupon inserts. Now, small businesses can portray themselves as whatever they would like to be as the online world is a virtual one. A business that looks like it is on the Fortune 500 list may be nothing more than a $5 a month hosting plan, a phone system and a closet with a computer in it.

Today's Leaders

Today, companies on the Fortune 500 list are names that most American families have never heard of or seen before. Yet, these companies are taking market share from companies they have heard about since they were children. The internet has given small and large businesses a huge new opportunity to gain marketshare like never before.

Marketing After the Crash

We are probably in the middle of one of the biggest wealth transfers in United States' (and probably the world's) history. This transfer has, for the most part, already taken place. The dollar, in my estimation, has probably lost half of its value (aka inflation) and most people don't know it or don't want to admit it. How American businesses shape how and what they do for money will define capitalism in this country for the next 50 years. For the first time, we have to face the fact that we cannot just sit back and be a wealthy country. People in countries like India, Vietnam, Mexico and others are educated and willing to work for 10 cents on the dollar compared to most American workers...and do the job with pride.

It is time for the American worker to stand up and show that we are the best country on earth, not just say it.
